This past weekend ShiftSpark went to The Bronx to see how Carl Heastie's district feels about the expiring rent protections. What we found was inspiring.
J2 is a spoken word poet who lives in a rent stabilized area of the Bronx. He gave us a little demo of his skills in support of the fight to convince Albany we need fair rent.
After a 15 minute conversation about having no voice and not voting, someone contributed to support rent protection legislation right on the spot.
It just goes to show there is power and resources in every community.
